Few moments in life feel more overwhelming than a marriage in crisis. When a relationship begins to unravel, one question rises above every other: "Lord, what should I do?" We want a clear answer. Immediately. Stay. Leave. Fight. Wait. Forgive. Move on. Yet God often seems quiet when we long for Him to speak the loudest.
That silence can feel unbearable. Sleep becomes difficult. Conversations replay endlessly in our minds. Every memory becomes another piece of evidence. Our emotions swing between hope and despair. When a marriage is in crisis, it can feel as though every part of life is being shaken. The cause may be betrayal, abuse, addiction, financial collapse or years of slowly drifting apart. Every story is different. Every wound carries its own weight.
Seeking God's wisdom never requires remaining in situations of abuse or immediate danger. God values truth, justice, and your safety. Wisdom often includes pursuing protection, accountability, appropriate help, and godly counsel while seeking His direction.
In moments like these, our hearts naturally begin building a case. We replay everything the other person has done wrong. We gather evidence to justify our anger. We defend our own actions. And while there may indeed be real injustice. And in some situations, one person bears far greater responsibility than the other. God often begins His work somewhere unexpected.
He begins with our own hearts. Not because we caused the crisis or because we didn't. Not because we deserve the blame or because we don't. But because He loves us too much to allow either our own sin or someone else's sin to become the defining story of our future.
